A friend of mine has this bag. We travel together for bird and wildlife photography. I was impressed with how the bag held her equipment and it was easy for her to get on and off the plane with it. I recently traveled to Italy and needed something that would work for plane and train travel. This ended up being perfect.

I've used it for 3 years for every wedding (about 70 per year) and other events and shoots. The wheels are super steady and the handle is pretty good if you don't abuse it like I do. I had to fix it when it broke on me finally. I normally carry two AD600 Pro lights in it and my Canon R5 with EF70-200L IS 2.8 Mark III lens with an adapter + a 14-in laptop, some flat accessories and a 32 ounce Yeti bottle in the pocket. It can be a bit unsteady if not full or empty, but that never bothered me. It's been extremely versatile for me over the years

Support an 8lb briefcase? Opening laptop, what keeps front pocket from tearing unzipped teeth? Flipped top lid obstructng front?

The laptop pocket on the Vanguard VEO SELECT 42T Trolley Bag is 13.5 x 9.5 1.5 inches. As long as the laptop does not exceed those dimensions, it will not put stress on the zipper or bag. They do not specify a weight limit but the interior dimensions are 14.63 x 13 x 6.25 inches and can hold 1-2 Pro DSLRs, 5-6 Lenses plus a flash.

What are the EXTERNAL pockets for accessories? How easily may we detach the cart handle for overhead? And wheels?

The external pockets on the Vanguard VEO SELECT 42T Trolley Bag (Black) are for accessories. The wheels and cart handle are not removable, but the cart handle easily retracts into the case.

Shopping this case but I don't see much in the way of accessory pockets , etc. Anybody ?

The Vanguard VEO SELECT 42T Trolley Bag (Black) does have a few dedicated pockets for accessories. The main opening has storage for a 15" laptop and 9.7” tablet. The top access flap has small pockets for memory cards. There is an outside pocket for a water bottle or the like. There are straps to attach a tripod on the outside. Additionally the internal dividers can be reconfigured to fit accessories according to your liking.

Can this fit underneath the airplane seat as a personal item and not a crry on on the over head, it's a bit tiny bigger than the american airlines so not sure ? Thanks

Vanguard does list the VEO SELECT 42T as a carry-on option. However, it's best to check with your specific airline on the maximum dimensions allowed for another carry-on bag that will fit under the seat.
