GyroVu GV-USB Overview

The USB to Canon LP-E12 Dummy Battery Cable from GyroVu allows you to use an optional USB power source to power devices that use a Canon LP-E12 battery, devices such as the Canon Rebel SL1, EOS-M, EOS M2, and EOS M10 cameras.

Please be aware that your USB power source must provide at least 2 amps of output (3A recommended). Generally, the USB ports on computers deliver only 1A. Many common USB power banks and power adapters are also limited to 1A. Compatible USB sources include the GyroVu High-Power 3.1 Amp USB Power Supply, High-Capacity 30,000mAh Power Bank, and High-Capacity 40,000mAh Power Bank with 110V Inverter. The cable length is 40".

LP-E12 Dummy Battery and Canon M50 Mark II

The 'dummy battery' is a rather significant help when used with an external power pack. My Canon M50 Mark II is an excellent camera but battery life is only OK. I use the dummy with an old tripod as the camera battery door won't quite open enough to replace a battery so this is a big assist. I also use the dummy if using the camera for any astrophotography imaging. It means I have a system that works without thinking (always) when the canon battery needs replacement.

I've tried the GV-USB-LPE12 with a few different power sources but no combination works with my Canon M200. Is there a specific input power requirement? I've tried 5V 2A as well as 9V 1.67A

Dear John, Usually complains like this are related to insufficient power provided to the adapter cable. You camera is required certain level of current to function properly. To provide that at least 2.0 Amp USB power source has to be used for the adapter cable. Usually computer USB ports are limited to 1.o Amp. The power banks and USB power supplies if not specified are usually providing 1.0 Amp outputs. You need to used power source with SPECIFIED 2.0 Amp output from reliable manufacturer for adapter to function properly. Please check specifications of the power source your are planning to use with this cable. The GyroVu USB to Canon LP-E12 Dummy Battery Cable (40") doesn't charge the camera whatsoever, it is meant to power not charge, externally.
