The NC-200-500V2 Replacement Lens Collar from Kirk Enterprises attaches directly to the rear barrel of the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens where the original collar was and locks into place by turning the locking knob. The lens foot is made with an Arca-type compatible double-dovetail design, which adds quick release functionality to the bottom of the foot and also allows other accessories to attach to the top of the foot. It also gives the lens a lower profile and lower center of gravity, providing better balance and stability when the lens is placed on a gimbal-type head.
Located on the bottom of the foot are two safety stops, which prevent the lens from accidentally releasing from a partially opened quick release receiver clamp. Kirk Enterprises recommends using the optional LS-2 Lens Support Bracket, which reduces stress on the camera's lens mount.
