At barely 4 pounds, is this tripod really sturdy enough to handle an iOptron SkyGuider Pro mount (with counterweight), Canon T3i DSLR camera, field flattener, William Optics Z61 telescope, and red-dot finder...and still keep solid polar alignment? Other mounts I've researched are at least 6 or 8 pounds.
Asked by: Mark
Yes, this is the reason it bought it. It is very sturdy, yet lightweight. I have used it several times in different equipment configurations and it came through very nicely. I use the level bubbles, which are accurate. It has nice rubber tipped legs for great stability. It is worth my money!

Does the accessory tray come off or disconnect to allow easy collapse of the tripod legs for transportation?
Asked by: James
You can remove the tray. Push two of the locking tabs in the same direction with your thumbs simultaneously and tray will spin and release from its locked position. Do not be afraid to use a little force. Once tabs are out of position and the slots in the middle of the tray match the patterns in the center hole, you can remove the tray and fold the legs of the tripod together.

What is the payload capacity on the tripod? I plan on using it with a star adventurer 2i with counter weight, Canon 600d camera and 72ed telescope.
Asked by: Viggo
You could actually use the Star Adventurer for visual astronomy, too, if you wanted. The mount can handle up to 11 pounds of gear, which means a small refractor telescope with a diagonal and eyepiece are an option.
