Nautilus GPS-ACC-001 Reviews
Convenient but tight fit for the GPS
This was purchased to replace the prior combined radio/gps unit from Nautilus. I hadn't actually used that as a routine part of my dive kit - always seemed fairly bulky and I never saw the need for the radio function in my work dives. The new EPIRB-functionality of the newer Nautilus GPS is a better fit for my field work which includes diving as well as working on fishing and research vessels. Its a compact case with a fairly sturdy thumb key lock. The band at the back was just wide enough to fit the case over the lower part of my BC shoulder strap. With the attached coiled holding strap and clip in place the only way I was able to fit the actual GPS in the pouch was to carefully arrange the strap and put the GPS in so the base was topmost. I took off one point for this fact - the pouch could have been designed to have just a little more internal space to make stowing the GPS easier. The antenna coiling system allows the unit to be repacked, but some of the GPS components will likely be lost when its put to use. Probably not a major issue if you get found, but just be aware to carefully use the supplied pieces while you are testing it our.
