A Classic Reimagined
While not interfering with the design of a time-tested industry-standard Savage has developed this version of the C-stand with an extra 5/8" junior receiver integrated into one leg of its turtle base. This is a special pass-through port that allows either the included 40" double or 20" single riser to be lowered beyond the bottom of the base. The riser leg essentially replaces the need for a Rocky Mountain leg while maintaining the ability to remove the turtle base entirely, thus reducing the divide between the two major styles of C-stand.
The benefits of a twin-riser C-stand are obvious. Two individual light fixtures may be mounted at once, assisting the use of pixel-mapped lighting programs available from many major light brands. One might also use the included 1 1/8" to 5/8" adapter pin to mount an accent fixture at ground level to add dramatic flair to the shot.

This is a good stand for all the popular reasons. My first has been so helpful I ordered a second one, new, in black. Unfortunately, it was either poorly handled during manufacturing, or it's used. I'm leaning toward used because in the places where a set screw/t-handle bolt would land, there is evidence force was applied. There is also a chalky residue on the legs. But the biggest disappointment is where the cable hanger/short riser clamp was slid onto the main riser, the black coating is flaking off in two places.
Functionally, this is an excellent stand and I stand behind a positive recommendation. It would have ended up looking the same before long anyway, but it did not meet expectations cosmetically for the price paid for a new one. My next one will be another chrome one like my first one.

No. The sliding leg makes it a bit difficult to stack the following units.
