Will this work with other microphones like an SM 58?
This stand could work with mics like the SM58. You would need to use the included extension tube from this stand, and the mic clip included with the Shure to make it work.

Does this use a common thread like an AKG P420?
Does this use a common thread like an AKG P420?
On the bottom both have a 5/8 tread in order to connect it to a stand/or microphone arm. I also tried the AKG P420 with this shock mount and it fits however the microphone doesn't fully lock in place. I would recommend to use the AKG P420 shock mount for better stability.

The thread this connects to the mic stand is a standrd 5/8" and will fit on any microphone stand. It is designd to fit Thronmax microphones. Other manufacturers microphones may not fit.
