The 2 lb BH1 Sputnik Arca-Type Ball Head from ProMediaGear is a black anodized CNC-machined aluminum head with internal steel components. By disengaging the large main locking knob of the head, it allows you to move the ball unlike conventional ball heads. Because the head has a rotating slot, it permits you to move the clamp in any 90° multi-angle direction.

How can you convert the knob to a lever lock like Reallyrightstuff uses. I have the BH-55 and am thinking of a change?
I would presume that you would replace the top plate with one from RRS that has the clamp built into it. You can see the screw holding the top plate on in the pictures.

A review by Lensvid (whoever they are} points out that the movement of the Bh1 could be smoother. I wonder if they mean it seems to stick . But on the other hand they do say it seemed to be better after using it. Is this the experience of others or is it likely they had a faulty copy. Can anyone shed some light on this concern?
All of the reviews we've seen of the ProMediaGear BH1 Sputnik Arca-Type Ball Head mention how smooth the movements are.
