A unique short-telephoto lens well-suited for portraiture, the Samyang AF 75mm f/1.8 FE is a Sony E-mount prime characterized by its distinct focal length, compact design, and bright f/1.8 maximum aperture. The optical design incorporates a three extra-low dispersion elements and a pair of high refractive index elements, which help to suppress both chromatic and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness, color accuracy, and clarity. An Ultra Multi-Coating has also been applied to reduce flare and ghosting in order to achieve higher contrast when working in strong lighting conditions. The lens's linear STM autofocus motor works in conjunction with Sony cameras' AF systems for quick, quiet, and precise focusing performance, and manual focus override is also available for more refined control. Additionally, a Custom Switch enables making intuitive adjustments of a variety of camera and exposure settings by rotating the lens's focusing ring.

Samyang AF 75mm f/1.8 Reviews
A portrait focal length that really works
This focal length offers great alternatives to work at a reasonable distance from your subject to either capture head and shoulders or even full body portraits. The size and weight of this lens couldn't be better. The lens is reasonably sharp in the center and mid zone, but does get soft in the corners at the wide open apertures. But that's okay for portraits. Stopped down, to F/5.6 or 8, the image is quite sharp, but all focal lengths do exhibit some color fringing. Samyang has good optical formulas, but less stellar quality control. This is my second copy, the first stopped working on the first day I was using it. So far, the second copy seems to be fairly well centered and functional. If Samyang ever used their quality control processes, they would be a strong contender with the other third party lens manufacturers, but they need to address their QC if serious photographers are to develop more allegiance to their brand.
Works well for me
Not that sharp but enough for me. Light weight due to the plastic body, which is a benefit for ones just record their lives.
Light and sharp
I have 85 1.4GM and also Sigma 85 Art. I love them for working. But for traveling light, hiking, and relax day. This Is the perfect combination to 35mm. Light and sharp. Works great on my A7RIII and A7R.
Light, Sharp
What a fun lens to use. It is sharp, AF works great and the collar can be programmed using optional lens station. One must just keep in mind the value proposition.
Nice, compact lens.
This lens works great with the a7c. It's compact is a great match for that camera. It's sharp and auto focus works great with the latest firmware update.
a light weight gem for little money
I bought this lens for video but I use it now a lot for photos as well, mostly portraits. The lens is already sharp quite open and stepped down en par with my best lenses with similar focal range. Low light autofocus performance seems to be better than my Sony 85mm f/1.8 and much better than adapted Sigma lenses. Colour rendition and bokeh is also good. One has to be careful with lens flare, but the deep lens hood helps to control it. Next to the really good optical performance the biggest advantage of the lens is the small size and weight. Happy that I bought it.
Pretty good
Switchable focus / aperture ring feels really nice. Very compact and light. Image quality is good. Very shallow DoF. Audible AF. A little dark, even at F/1.8. Great for the price!
Super Small, Lightweight, and Sharp
I love the lens sharpness, lightweight, and small size. I'd absolutely buy it again. The AF locks on nicely. I opted to sell my 24-70 f4 and buy these little samyang lenses, the 35mm, 45mm, and 75mm, and I'm super happy I did. Great paired on my Sony a7r IV.
