Holds our built out RED using a quick release plate so we can go from horizontal to vertical shots without any timely changes during a shoot. Love this thing only wish I had bought it months ago.

How much weight can it handle?

We imagine that it can easily handle up to 30 lbs, Thus is can take virtually any small camera. Think DSLR and mirrorless. The more likely limitation would be size, not weight. Would there be enough clearance to rig a Sony FX6 stripped down without the side handle?

Yes, if you mount the Sony FX6 on the top-most threads, there will be enough clearance for the camera without the side handle.
