Pengo Technology 8RGRA-H01HU4T0PE Reviews

Simple, solid build and it works reliably

I have several of these, and they just work. Just be clear that while the pass-through HDMI can be up to 4K, the output on the USB interface is limited to 1080p. This is plenty sufficient for things like Zoom using the HDMI output of a camera as your video source. I like the form factor and the non-slip bottom.

Better than expected

I was debating this vs. more expensive grabbers from other vendors. I wanted the ability to handle 4k as an input, have an HDMI pass through, with separate audio if needed. So far, I've found this unit meets my needs. It's small, runs cool, generally sits where placed, and handles the video I feed it. It is designed for a USB A connector, and I haven't been able to connect to a USB C port via adapters I have. For some reason it won't power up that way. But it works fine with a USB hub. I purchased this during a Black Friday event, and the price was more than competitive with other similarly models with less features, that sometimes had issues with overheating and audio. In short, it provides a quick, compact connection to cameras, Apple TV, etc. that I need as video feed for livestreaming, video conferencing and occasional recording. Sharp video resolution. At this point, as an occasional consultant for those getting into high quality livestreaming, I'd feel comfortable recommending it. I haven't had it that long, I can't reliably comment on the long term durability.

Will this work with the canon a30 camcorder?

If it's the 2002 Model Canon Power Shot a30 it probably doesn't have HDMI output as HDMI did'nt exist before 2006. If it does have HDMI out you should plug it into a Colour TV/Monitor & verify that it can put out a clean picture & sound in 720p/1080p at 50 or 60Hz. If it can do that it will definitely work with the Pengo

Will this work with old gen consoles like ps2 or ps3?
Asked by: Jabari
The Pengo Technology 4K HDMI to USB 3.0 Video Grabber (Titanium Gray) may not work with older generation consoles such as the PS2 or PS3 if they output an interlaced signal. An RCA to HDMI adapter would also be necessary for connecting the PS2 as well.

Asked by: Neil
This MIGHT work, if you output video from iphone with an Apple Lightning to Digital AV Adapter. HOWEVER, the Pengo does 4K only, it will not automatically adjust your resolution to HD 120x1080, if that's what you may want to use it for. I purchased a Magewell HSB Capture HDMI Plus for that instead.

4K video is for pass-through only, to video what your camera is seeing. not 4K into the computer for streaming/video conferencing. USB only 1080p60

Yes, if your monitor app offers UVC compatibility, you could use the Pengo Technology 4K HDMI to USB 3.0 Video Grabber as a capture device. Orion is one app that could be a solution.
