Available for download, the Arturia Comp VCA-65 is a software compressor designed for pro-audio mixing. It emulates a classic VCA compressor renowned for its hefty sound, a compressor historically used on rhythm-section instruments, such as bass, drums, and guitar. The original hardware had several features that studios find desirable, such as an Over Easy mode for auto-calibrating attack and release times, and a peak-stop limiter for adding harshness and aggression to the tone. This software gives you those features and more.
Indeed, the Comp VCA-65 boasts some updates to the original hardware that are designed to make mixing easier. For instance, an Advanced Sidechain control enables extensive sidechaining, letting you filter the sidechain input with an EQ and M/S filters, so you can control what will trigger the compressor. Arturia has also provided a Time Warp knob, which changes the behavior of the attack and release shapes, affording you extensive control over the compression envelope.
This plug-in is compatible with Mac and Windows operating systems. It will work in AU, VST2, VST3, and AAX formats.
