If I buy the kit with the red DSMC 2 control software, will that also work with the komodo or do I have to buy the komodo software add on?
The RED DSMC2 License is only compatible with RED DSMC2 cameras. You will need the SmallHD Cine 7/702 Touch Monitor Camera Control Kit for RED KOMODO.

Yes, you can install multiple SmallHD camera licenses on the SmallHD Cine 7 Touchscreen On-Camera Monitor with RED DSMC2 Control Kit. Please note once installed, the license cannot be moved to another display.

Unfortunately, this SmallHD Cine 7 Touchscreen On-Camera Monitor will only work with RED DSMC-2 bodies. The RED Epic MX is the previous generation and will not be supported.
