By B&H Photo's

Complementing the lens itself, the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens with UV Filter Kit from B&H bundles the all-in-one zoom with a 58mm UV filter.

Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens

A versatile all-in-one zoom featuring a robust physical design, the Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH. POWER O.I.S. from Panasonic is designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras and provides a 28-280mm equivalent focal length range. The lens construction incorporates three aspherical elements and a pair of extra-low dispersion elements to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortions for greater image sharpness and clarity. Multi-coatings have also been applied to individual elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity in harsh lighting conditions.

Benefitting the optics, this zoom sports a splash and dust-resistant design to suit working in inclement weather conditions. This lens also features a stepping motor for fast and quiet autofocus performance that benefits both stills and movie shooting. An internal focusing design maintains the overall lens length during operation and also quickens focusing speeds. Additionally, POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) benefits this expansive wide-to-tele zoom range by compensating for camera shake for sharper handheld shooting.

Chiaro Pro 58mm 98-UVATS UV Filter

The Pro 58mm 98-UVATS UV Filter is one of Chiaro’s highest-rated protective UV filters with 98% light transmission. It’s ideal for photographers of all levels who demand high-quality glass and other essential features for excellent image fidelity and construction.

To achieve 98% light transmission, Chiaro uses highly-polished optical glass, multi-coating, and additional advanced elements that improve the filter’s light transmission. A scratch-resistant coating minimizes scratching of the glass and helps assure that water, oil, dust, and fingerprints are removed with a gentle wipe. Its hard-anodized aluminum filter ring is designed to screw on and off effortlessly, and it is thin to prevent vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses. Side knurling helps assure that you’ll have a firm grip when attaching or removing your filter.

Image quality is what matters most at Chiaro. The company has tested and combined many features and essentials to achieve superior image quality and the highest light transmission. To help take the confusion out of selecting a filter, Chiaro prominently displays the light transmission levels so that you can choose the perfect filter for your lens and photo session.

98% Light Transmission
Protecting your lens doesn't mean you have to lose optical quality. By using highly-polished optical glass and advanced coatings, Chiaro offers a 98% transmission rate, which is an excellent transmission rate for glass. And the company verifies the ratings with ISO certified lab testing.
Resistance Coating
The layers of advanced resistance coating on the filter are designed to resist moderate scratches, and allow you to easily clean your filter. Water beads up and rolls off your filter, and oil and fingerprints can come off with a gentle wipe. Dust and debris won't adhere to the filter and can be removed with a puff of air.
Polished Optical Glass
Glass that's polished to perfection is essential to achieve a high level of light transmission. The optical glass in this Chiaro filter is highly-polished for flatness that ensures excellent optical clarity.
Multi-Coating
Multi-coating enhances light transmission to the demanding level set for all Chiaro filters. It reduces unwanted internal reflections and ghosting that can compromise your images.
UV Protection
The filter blocks UV light and reduces the bluish cast of daylight that can affect color accuracy, especially at higher altitudes.
Hard Anodized Aluminum Construction
The process of hard anodizing toughens and strengthens the aluminum for a lightweight yet durable filter ring.
Slim Design
Measuring only 3.2mm, this filter is slim enough to use on wide-angle lenses without experiencing vignetting.
Top and Side Knurling
In addition to top knurling, Chiaro added side knurling to better grip the filter when you're attaching and removing it, or when you're stacking filters.
Secure Attachment
It takes two full turns to mount the filter on your lens. This feature will securely hold your Chiaro filter through the most demanding photo shoots.
Front Threads
The front threads on the filter allow you to stack filters by screwing them onto your Chiaro filter.

Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens with UV Filter Kit Reviews

Don't Overlook This Lens

I was hesitant to buy this lens because of its age, plus not being professional level quality like a Leica lens would be. I'm glad I pulled the trigger and purchased this lens. Many times I would leave my camera at home because I didn't want to carry around a bunch of different lenses, or carry a large telephoto lens around. With this lens, you get the smaller size, but also a nice range of focal lengths for general purpose use. Outdoor use is where this lens shines the most where it can get ample sunlight. My camera is a Panasonic GH6. Dual OIS works just fine with this lens and makes handheld shooting an absolute pleasure. The higher aperture of this lens doesn't bother me at all either. Dynamic Range Boost on the GH6 requires higher ISO, plus I don't really care about shallow depth of field for my work, which is mostly videography of birds. (The natural background detail is as important as my subjects to me) Most of my video work is shot in the F8 to F11 Aperture range, although I have not noticed any obvious quality degradation at lower or higher apertures. I will leave the critiquing to the professional level users. If you're shooting recreationally and uploading YT videos, this lens will not disappoint. There are many great camera moments we miss because we don't want to lug around a lot of bulky gear. This lens embraces the true spirit of MFT.

Unmatched Versatility for Travel, Nature, Street

This should be the standard kit lens. It's small for its range, light, and makes great pictures. Dual stabilization on stabilized Panasonic bodies means I get clean images at low ISO, that I totally did not expect to get. The weather sealing has worked in all kinds of weather. Mounted on a GX85, it feels good in the hand. It is the one, go-anywhere-prepared lens in the Lumix range. I cannot complain about the price, even. Other system's wide range zooms are either modest performers, or heavy and expensive to get good performance. This lens does well, and you pay for it. If it weren't for this lens I would have ditched Micro Four Thirds (or any mirrorless system) already, just from being tired of lens changes. It very nearly replaces the kit 12-32, 40-150 lenses for the GX85 kit, so you can stop changing lenses so much. I honestly don't understand why some other zoom lenses in the Lumix range even exist, with this one being so good. Cons are pretty obvious- You may choose to swap it for an ultrawide sometimes. 14mm is not wide enough for lots of travel or nature situations. Small for its range, it's still not a small lens. In my dreams, it would retract like the 12-32, so it would be far easier to carry. Works best with an add-on hand grip for a rangefinder body. This lets you carry it in hand and still relax your grip a bit. The hood helps a lot when shooting into sunlit water, but the lens does loose contrast in that scenario, where strong light is coming from multiple directions. Not bright enough for low light shots without motion blur, without boosting ISO.

Better than it should be

Decided to consolidate my 14-42 II and 45-150 to reduce the number of lenses in my collection. Pixel-peeping and technical reviews aside, real-world use produces sharp images and excellent IQ. The new splash/dust resistance is a welcome feature when you don't know what you'll run into. Focus speed is great on the newer m43 bodies with 1st curtain and/or silent shutter, there is no shock that I can find. The zoom ring is slight stiff, but becomes smoother over time. Built quality is well above average and it lends itself to confident use. Highly recommended for eliminating the which lens confusion with reliable results. To protect the wider lens element, I got a B+W XSPro Clear that doesn't seem to add any ghosting or flare issues. Paired with an ultra-wide or faster prime, an excellent travel kit. I'd buy it again.

Good, but limited

Typical for a wide range zoom it requires some stopping down for sharpness across the frame. I found F8 to be the best compromise. This was good for outdoor daylight. It also seemed to have more problems with bright objects within the frame, losing contrast significantly. But the upside is that is light and portable, so may be good for traveling with minimal equipment.

Excellent All-In-One Lens

This Gen II lens makes for a great all-in-one lens if you want to only take one camera/lens out for shooting. It's true to the early Micro 4/3's mandate in providing a lens capable of capturing wonderful images in a small, compact, light package. Yes, it's better suited to bright outdoor shooting (or inside with good light), but for the size, weight and image quality, worth the compromise for it's relatively small aperture range. All-in-all, a wonderful lens and highly recommended!

Good for hobbyists

I am a hobbyist photographer and shoot primarily street photography with little video usage. This was purchased to have more reach without getting in someone’s space. For the beginner or hobbyist, this lens is good, If you are wanting better, sharper images then you need to buy the more “pro” grade/expensive lenses. For this hobbyist, it does the job.

Best Travel Lens for Panasonic M4/3

Although it is not quite a sharp as the Leica 12-60 F2.8-4 lens, the 14-140 mm (28-280 FF equivalent) makes it a much better choice when it is the only lens you are going to take with you. This 14-140 is the one and only lens that goes on my GX-9 for all my usual travel photography. It is a small, light package that has ibis and takes excellent pictures. A pair of photos showing what 10x range really means for travel pics. Taken at the same location, view and time (Barbados).

Capable Budget Lens For Run and Gun Style Videos

I am frequently assigned run and gun style documentary shoots for the county for whom I work and this lens functions and performs well for that purpose. Most of the time my assignments do not give me ample prep time to know what shots I will need and the variable focal lengths this lens has allows me to capture footage perfectly for subjects whose actions and movements I am unable to anticipate. This lens has never let me down and I find myself using it most of the time with my Panasonic GH5s. Since the majority of my shots take place outside in bright sunlight I use this lens in conjunction with a variable neutral density filter, giving me perfect control over exposure 100% of the time. It's lightweight and perfect for my needs.

The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens does feature "Internal Focus", but not "Internal zoom". When one is zooming with this 14-140mm lens the length of the lens will almost double when one is fully zoomed to 140mm.
