Sonnet Fusion Flex J3i Overview

Mount more drives with the Fusion Flex J3i 3-Drive Mounting System for 2019 Mac Pro from Sonnet. Designed for use with the 2019 Mac Pro, this mounting system provides two 2.5/3.5" bays and one 2.5" bay, allowing users to install up to three SATA drives. Built from aluminum, this mounting chassis comes with vibration reducers to minimize the chance of data errors when using HDDs. Cables and mounting hardware are also included.

Rugged and Custom Design
The Fusion Flex J3i is designed to make maximum use of the space and connections inside the Mac Pro; constructed out of heavy-gauge aluminum, the J3i looks right at home inside the computer. Shock and vibration isolators for 3.5" drives protects each drive from cross-coupled vibration from the other, safeguarding against read or write errors and retries. Mounting plates for 2.5" drives are included, so there's no need to purchase separate pieces to use them. Custom power and data cables deliver a clean look to the installation.

This internal drive mount does what it is supposed to do. However, the manufacturing quality is not the best. Mechanically it does not have the same build quality as the Promise J2i, but it does hold 3 drives. The cables could be better too. While they do work, the cables are tightly zip-tied together as a straight wire bundle, even though the cables need to be bent in use.

An Exc. way to add up to 3 SSD drives to your 2019 Mac Pro!

First, this should be a standard item in every 2019 Mac Pro. Apple offers an option for twice the price and can only handle 2 drives. Second, all you need is a small Phillips screwdriver and a T-8 Torx driver (Apple utilizes 2 of the T-8 fasteners). The rest is easy. I watched a video on how to do this and minutes later I had 3 SSD drives attached and plugged in and working! Included with the System are the cable harnesses for 2 of the drives and a USB cable for the 3rd drive. NOTE: If you watch videos on how to do this, the video may tell you that you need a T-7 Torx but fortunately for me, I had a set and the T-7 is too small but the T-8 fits perfectly.
