Toroidal Transformer
The toroidal transformer in the A-S1200 is designed to provide technical proficiency and musicality. Combined with an array of audiophile-grade hi-fi features and components, this transformer helps ensure you get the musical emotion you expect.
Level Meters
The level meters are both a nod to the nostalgic era of hi-fi and demonstrate the return of pure hi-fi for today's enthusiasts. Visually presenting the dynamics and pulse of the music, the level meters are designed to provide a warm feeling through their softly illuminated LEDs.
Open Sound Stage
The open sound stage is engineered to provide a musical experience similar to being at a live performance.
Thick Ground Connection Wires
The amplifier's low impedance design, aided by the thick ground wires, helps present an open, natural soundstage.
Pure Brass Speaker Terminals
Cut directly from pure brass, the speaker terminals are designed to comfortably fit in your hand for simple tightening to provide a secure connection.
Mechanical Ground Concept
The A-S1200 adopts a Mechanical Ground Concept, with the bolts of the feet welded directly to the main chassis, and the large heat sink, power transformer, and block capacitors bolted directly to the chassis. This design helps avoid unwanted vibration to achieve expressive and rhythmic bass, presenting you with the groove of the music.
Chrome-Plated Iron Feet
The chrome-plated iron feet help complete the rigid design of the amplifier.

Yamaha A-S1200 Reviews

Blew up after 7 months

DO NOT think about buying this amp or any amp in this Yamaha line. They are prone to live in the repair shop!! The AS1200 sounded great for the first 7 months then it turned itself off and never came back. It’s not even fully paid for yet! In addition, Yamaha’s warranty service is very weak! My amp has been in the shop (the shop suggested by Yamaha) for over 5 weeks now. Though the warranty/customer service is friendly, and they do respond to emails, they literally do nothing for you other than say they’re sorry for any delays! Beyond apologizing and trying to blame the customer for the issue it’s worthless! I very much wish I had never purchased this amp. I really couldn’t afford $3000 for an amp but I thought at 65 years old I’d buy it for myself for a retirement present. I was very excited to have a higher quality amp than I was used to. However, this is obviously only an expensive amp not a high-quality one. My $700 Onkyo lasted for 25 years, the Yamaha AS1200 lasted for 7 months. I’m so disappointed and have been without music for 6 weeks now! Really, stay away from Yamaha! Even the repair man told me that they break all the time! What a total drag from a once great company!󉀽򔰀

how do i hook up a subwoofer to this amp, there is no sub-out?
Asked by: Mark
Congratulations! This is the most often asked question ever in the history of hifi. I wish manufacturers would label pre-outs as PRE-OUT/SUB. It would avoid a lot of confusion for people unfamiliar with hifi equipment.
