Bowers & Wilkins DB4S Reviews

Excellent subwoofer; just wish had physical controls

First and foremost, this is an excellent subwoofer. I'm using it in a 5.1 setup along with B&W 700 series 3 speakers which the sub aesthetically matches perfectly. Previously, I was using a B&W PV1D sub. The DB4S is putting out deeper frequencies (though it may have been how I had the PV1D set up, or perhaps that I have the DB4S using the uncoupled feet which were not an option with the PV1D). The only downside to this sub is that it requires an app to adjust settings. This wasn't a problem as I have a current iPhone. However, I'm still a bit nervous as to if the app will be updated such that when I move to new phones over the years, the app will still work. Having at least a physical volume/trim knob would have been great. Also really like the options to connect the DB4S. My AV receiver doesn't have XLR outputs, so currently using an RCA cable for the LFE input. And, also using a 12V trigger to have the sub automatically power up/down as my AV receiver powers up/down. I didn't try out the auto power on feature of the sub based on input signals. I wanted a setup where there was no chance of the sub incorrectly turning on/off, so that's why I went with the 12V trigger option. Finally, some other things I really like about the sub (mainly comparing to the prior PV1D): * All connections are on the rear panel. The PV1D was underneath which led to one having to get elbow connectors to reduce strain on cables. * Three different feet options offers much versatility.
