GyroVu GV-USB Overview

The USB to Nikon EN-EL15 Dummy Battery Intelligent Cable from GyroVu allows the use a USB power source to power devices that use a Nikon EN-EL15 battery, providing continuous camera operation in applications where stopping to change batteries is not suitable. This dummy battery fits into the camera's existing battery socket and features a 40" USB power lead, and the built-in emulator chip delivers battery status data to the camera.

Proper operation of this adapter requires a USB power source with a minimum 5V/2A output, however 5V/3A is recommended.

    Fried my camera

    I guess I should have checked compatibility more carefully. It fried my Nikon D7500. You would think that it would work with all Nikon cameras that use the EN-EL15A or 15B batteries. I am just glad I did not try it on my Nikon D850!

    It seems to do the job, but make sure that the supply is rated for at least 2.4A. A longer shutter speed with my D7500 didn't work for me on a 2A supply - it dropped out the power supply presumably on voltage drop as soon as the shutter tried to open and would leave me with an error. This is related to my only complaint - it would have been great if it had a bit of capacitive charge storage to better handle these brief load spikes.

    It will work on the Z6 and Z7 camera as long as the USB power adapter/supply has enough power supplying it. It is recommended to use a 3amp.
