Beachtek DXA-GO Overview

The Beachtek DXA-GO is a two-channel audio adapter and bracket designed to help DSLR and mirrorless shooters get the most out of the Rode GO wireless mic system. This lightweight, compact device mounts to any standard camera shoe and lets you attach the GO receiver just above the camera—facing you for easy access.

Two more mounts can accommodate additional accessories, such as another wireless receiver or a self-powered camera-mountable microphone to take advantage of the adapter's second channel. The DXA-GO's passive circuitry is noise free and requires no batteries or power to operate. A 3.5mm TRS stereo output cable is included.

Easily Mount, Connect, and Use the GO and a Second Mic
  • Securely mounts the GO receiver to your camera
  • Two auxiliary mounts let you attach an additional receiver, mic, or lighting accessory
  • Two mono 3.5mm inputs and one stereo 3.5mm input provide versatile options
  • Can be used with most wireless mics and high-output self-powered mics
  • Real volume knobs mean no hunting through multilayer menus trying to find or change settings
  • Since the audio is recorded directly to the camera, it will always be in sync with the video
Noise-Free & Battery-Free Operation
  • With passive circuity and no electronics to get in the way, the DXA-GO provides clean, noise-free audio directly to the camera
  • The adapter is virtually unclipable and offers an extremely wide dynamic range
  • Works with most wireless receivers or microphones that do not require additional amplification or plug-in power
Adjust Recording Levels
  • Dual trim controls allow you to easily attenuate each channel independently
  • Easily accessible detented knob controls provide drift-free operation and precise volume attenuation
  • The bracketing feature lets you set two different levels on both channels when using a single mono mic—giving you a backup in case one channel is blown out
Mono or Stereo Operation
  • Output can be set to dual mono or stereo
  • Set the output mode to stereo when connecting two mono mics or one stereo mic on two channels
  • Set the output mode to mono when using one mic for dual-channel mono recording

It's more than it appears to be...

I got this so I could plug a few of my wireless mike kits in...and in experimenting, could plug 3 in at the same time. Yes, there's a right channel, left channel and stereo but that's three inputs (and also three brackets to hold the receivers!). So finally a way for those of us living in the prosumer/M43 world to shoot a multi-person interview without a mixer or sound person. BTW the three kits. Rode (original) into stereo input, Synco into left channel input and (el cheapo) Element Wave into right channel input. Don't hate me for the Element...wanted to do a mike comparison between excellent mike, good mike, and inexpensive mike kits.

Perfect Combination

I immediately bought this when it was newly released. I have one of my mirrorless camera and two rode wireless go to broadcast livestream events. The designed was really perfect to fit the wireless go mics. Easy set up to plug both camera and device and ready to go. You need to follow instrunction for installation and everything go smoothly. I actually bought another one for the other camera. Highly recommended for this new product

It says output can be set to dual mono. Does this mean I can have 2 mic input, and output it as individual Left and Right channels on the output stereo?
Asked by: Jason
You have the option to ether come out to your camera in stereo or mono. To get each mic on its on track, set the output to "Dual Stereo." "Dual Mono" out mixes the two mic's together.

Would this allow for two mono inputs such as two ...

Would this allow for two mono inputs such as two original Rode Wireless go mics, plus a stereo shut in mic at the same time?
Asked by: Scott
YES. Assuming that your spell-checker transposed "shot gun" to "shut in" mic. My DXA-GO (untested and unused so far) has a shoe-mount on its top surface for a stereo shot gun mic and a stereo input for such a mic. Additionally, on each of two sides there is a shoe mount to add a Rode Wireless Go mic, left and right. And there is a switch that lets you select for either mono or stereo output. Dual trim controls can independently adjust each channel. On the back side as shown in the picture, there are left and right mono inputs (from Rode Go receivers) plus a stereo input -- I would assume from either a shot gun mic or the combined input of either RODE GO Stereo or mono Receiver. I do not know whether or not there is a way to use this device for three separate inputs. Pictured as an out on the right next to the various inputs, is the stereo/mono output to the camera. As an amateur looking at my device, the first two answers to your question and having scanned the instructions. GOOD LUCK.

Are the volume knobs stepless (i.e. a smooth transition from low to high volume)? Or does it have noticeable jumps in volume at different levels?

This is an attenuator devices, the knobs are for gain, not for volume. The knobs are smooth.

it works with other brands of lavaliers wireless? Like Sennheiser G3.
Asked by: Francisco
Yes, it can work with other wireless microphone receivers although the size and shape of the DXA-GO was designed specifically to accommodate the size and shape of the Rode Wireless Go receiver. The Sennheiser G3 receiver is larger than the Wireless Go receiver, but it could work, depending on your camera and the amount of space needed. For comparison, the Wireless Go receiver measures 1.7 x 1.8 x 0.7" while the G3 receiver is 2.5 x 3.2 x 0.9". We do have other 2-channel passive camera mixers with 3.5mm TRS inputs and outputs that will work in exactly the same way and just a different configuration than the DXA-GO. Take a look at the Saramonic SR-AX100 Passive 2-Channel Audio Adapter for DSLR Cameras (B&H # SASRAX100) and Kopul CMX-1-V2 Two-Channel Mini Mixer with Shoe Bracket (B&H # KOCMX1V2) which are both compatible for use with two wireless receivers like the Wireless Go or G3.
