Handy! 3rd hand not required

I never knew how I needed a head lamp until shooting the Milky Way and I needed 2 hands plus a hand to hold a light. A friend had no problems with his head lamp. I now have this one with high and low lamp settings. Very handy! Has red and flashing red but hoping I don't need those!

Durable, button's a bit difficult

Super solid and rugged. But the button at times is hard to press, especially if you are wearing gloves. Rather than being ever so slightly indented, it would be easier to press/control if it was bumpy and stood out to the touch.

Looking for a video light for capturing my feral cat community, which is close up, constantly moving subjects. Is this an alternative to a traditional video light?

This light is an alternative to a hand held flash light. It is not recommended as a video light.

If using Red LED, can I turn the lamp on/off without scrolling through white light modes so as not to disturb everyone near me in the dark?

RucPac Professional Halo Headlamp provide 4 different modes, the Red light mode is the 3rd option. Unfortunately you can not select specific mode. There is only one button to tap through all 4 options.

Can that strange looking orange thing be removed? Looks like something from an old Buck Rogers movie. Doesn't seem to serve any purpose.
