The unit slipped out of the case on to a carpeted floor and only the protective glass dome broke. I searched around and found that B&H keeps them in stock at a very good price. I bought 2, 1 immediate replacement and one for possible future trouble. Quick and easy

The description says for transport and storage. Does this mean that it should be taken off for actual use?
Taking it off makes no sense to me...
Why would they make holes for airflow in the glass and soft white defused edge (like 400pro & 600pro), if it MUST be removed while in use?
Other test carried out on the net (w/o removing the glass), determine - there is no light loss, while leaving it ON, and the results are even better, in temrs of softer light.
I am not a godox specialist, but the build and similarity to the 400pro & 600pro covers, in addition to an accessory like -
"Flashgels Color Correction Gel Kit for Godox AD300 Pro", that is designed to fit the glass... suggest, this glass dome CAN and mostly Should be left on the tube while using the flash.
