Fractal Design Define 7 Overview

Save space without curtailing components, thanks to the Define 7 Compact Mid-Tower Case with solid black pannels from Fractal Design. Supporting ATX, micro-ATX, and mini-ITX motherboards, this mid-tower case features two 2.5/3.5" drive bays inside a drive cage. Two drive trays are also included, allowing you to mount 2.5" drives on the PSU shroud or behind the motherboard. Seven expansion slots can be used to install various adapter cards, including GPUs up to 14.20". If a front fan is installed, graphics cards up to 13.43" are supported. Likewise, with the drive cage and a front fan installed, power supplies are limited to 7.87", while CPU coolers up to 6.65" are also supported.

The Define 7 Compact Mid-Tower Case comes with two preinstalled fans: one 140mm intake fan, and one 120mm exhaust fan. Additional fans can be installed at the front, top, and bottom of the case for increased airflow. Or install radiators up to 360, 240, or 120mm at the front, top, and rear of the case. Front radiators with widths up to 5.71" are supported, and if the drive cage is removed, users can install a 120mm radiator at the bottom of the case, as well.

Utilizing a steel frame and side panels, the Define 7 Compact also features an aluminum front panel. The side panels feature a top-latching design, and the top panel can be swapped between a noise-reducing steel or a ventilated mesh panel, or removed completely for easy access. Keep your build looking tight thanks to easy-to-clean nylon filters at the front, top, and bottom of the case. Additionally, 0.67 to 1.10" of routing space, integrated cable guides, touch fastener straps, and a PSU shroud help you hide excess cables. Alongside a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port, the front I/O panel also incorporates two USB 3.1 Gen 1 and two 2.0 Type-A ports. Audio input and output ports are also present.

I saw this case and I was impressed , coming from a Fractal Define R-6 that I had for years This is a real upgrade . It is very configurable . But at the same Time , I saw issues . 1st off no hard drive LED at all to hook up to Your MB . Just reset, power led, and on switch. I had to be creative and add my own HDD LED that I found on E bay . I mean come on why cheep out on this ? So I rigged up a red HHD led and hung it off the 5.25 bay . Looks cool really . But paying over $200.00 for a case with no hard drive LED is unacceptable. I believe that they did overkill on on the accessories , way too many HDD cages , Not many people run 3.5 HDD anymore , so I took out all the hard drive 3.5 cages saving a substantial weight and more room to access My power supply. Even with that I still have a way to mount a 2 , 2.5 SATA drives in the rear . The Instruction manual is great with clear instructions . Not a fan of the included case fans , 1000 rpm 3-pin fans. I ditched those right away Cable routing is a joy and spot on. I run a DVD , 5.25 drive and mounting is kinda stupid , You have to pull the front panel off , remove 2 screws from the 5.25 cage , the rotate it 180 deg, then guess how much length is needed so it mounts flush , . No way to access the right side mounting screws once the cage is installed . Compared to my Define R6 the case window is way darker . If you have no lighting installed , then everything will be blacked out . I scored some Red LED 140 mm fans that should solve the problem .

Really Quite!

This case is living up to all my expectations for a really quiet case. As a content creator and not a gamer, I do not need all those fancy RGB lights inside my computer case, so I don't need a case with transparent sides so this solid black case is just the thing for my needs. Lots of empty space for a better cooling air flow design, with space for up to 7 fans. The case came with a variety of cable management options. This case has plenty of room for my be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5 CPU Cooler (169mm high) and my ASUS RTX 5070 Ti. The case also comes with a HDD cage (which I took out for I don't need it). The bottom dust cover/air filter is a nice touch!. All in all, I am very pleased with my Fractal Design Define 7 Compact case.
