I only use Epson inks in my Epson printers. For dependability, color the performance of the printer, I highly recommend this ink.

Avoid unnecessary trouble by using Epson manufactured ink and cartridge. Pigment ink (Epson) and dye ink (potentially other) initially look the same but pigment ink won't fade ever time.

Epson does not show an expiration date on the Epson UltraChrome PRO10 Ink Cartridge Set. They do say after installation: 6 months (when stored at normal temperatures).

So, w/o a dedicated black cartridge I'm assuming it needs to use 3 inks to create the one color?

The Epson UltraChrome PRO10 Color Ink Cartridge Set (BH #EPT770CCK) is a kit of the most commonly used colors. The printer needs 10 inks in total to operate.
