Zoom ZDM-1 Overview

By B&H Photo's
Tuned to deliver a robust vocal tone with smooth highs and tight lows, the Zoom ZDM-1 is an affordable dynamic microphone that's ideal for podcasters, radio show announcers, rappers, and singers. Thanks to its high SPL handling and broad frequency response, this end-address mic makes it easy to capture your voice with mix-ready broadcast quality.
The large-diaphragm dynamic capsule utilizes a supercardioid pickup pattern to effectively reduce ambient sound such as room noise at the sides of the mic. To isolate the pickup element from handling noise, vibrations, and rumble, the ZDM-1 employs an integrated shock-absorbing mechanism. The ZDM-1's integral humbucking circuit improves the signal-to-noise ratio by inhibiting electromagnetic interference from common sources such as wireless devices, power lines, computer displays, and more.

The all-metal body and grille afford ruggedness and durability for reliable use session after session. The ZDM-1 includes a pivoting mic stand mount for easy positioning and a custom windscreen for attenuation of plosives and breath noise.
This microphone is part of the B&H Virtual Mic Locker, an online tool to help our valued customers determine the sonic differences between popular microphones for podcasting and voice over work. Each microphone was recorded using a Grace Design M103 preamp into a Presonus Quantum 2626 interface.

Is there a foam windscreen to go with this microphone?
Asked by: Carliena
It comes with a windscreen and the Røde WS2 (BH #ROWS2) should fit, as the Procaster is just 1 mm narrower than the ZDM-1.

The ZDM-1 has a 53.8mm diameter and will work with the Rycote InVision Universal Lite Microphone Shock Mount (B&H # RYINVUSML) or Rycote InVision Universal Microphone Shock Mount (B&H # RYINVUSM).

Is it compatible with #AUBSM35R?Would the mounting stud work or could its 0.02”over the intended diameter create enough tension?
Asked by: Devon
The Zoom ZDM-1 Dynamic Microphone has a diameter of 53.8 mm, so it would be just a bit too large for the Auray BSM-35R Shockmount (B&H #AUBSM35R). Fortunately, the ZDM-1 is a dynamic microphone with an integrated shock absorption mechanism, so no shockmount is required.

I see it comes with the foam windscreen, but since it's not listed, I wanted to confirm the ZDM-1 does not have an internal pop filter. Is this correct?
Asked by: Steve
Yes, that is correct.
