The AirHed Vu Ball Head from 3 Legged Thing is a ball head with a load capacity of 88.2 lb that can be attached to tripods or other support systems that feature a 3/8"-16 mount. The head's magnesium alloy casing features a unique vision panel that allows the inner mechanism to be seen. By loosening the ball head's primary locking knob, the head's ball-and-socket joint can be quickly swiveled, angled, and fully tilted to a vertical position or returned to its upright position. The base of the head incorporates an independent panning lock knob.

I am interested in the Airhead VU tripod head ...
I am interested in the Airhead VU tripod head however on my camera I already have RRS L-brackets and on my lenses Kirk lens plates. Can I use my RRS and Kirk plates directly on the Airhead VU clamp?
From our testing with RRS and Kirk L-brackets and plates, thus far there hasn't been a brand of ballhead that has severely restricted their use. Based on the arca-swiss design that 3LT employs, we foresee no issues with your plates and the 3LT AirHed VU ballhead/clamp.

What is the size of the plate and how it mounted to camera?
The arca-swiss plate provided with the 3 Legged Thing AirHed Vu ball head is 38mm / 1.5" in width and screws into your camera's mounting point via the 1/4"-20 screw on the plate.
