Love this mount!
Absolutely love this mount! With the handle it is very easy to maneuver and set up is a breeze. It is very quiet and rock stable when moving the scope. Totally meets my needs and I suspect I’ll use this mound for a long time.
Good mount but not great
This is my second eq6 mount. The mounts bubble level was defective and I had to use a bar level to level the tripod. There was some backlash in the declination but that was easily solved. The eq6 is built like a Sherman tank and the mount head is quite heavy. The smoothness of the axis is good but not great and the ability to track objects without guiding is great for visual but good for photography. The eq6 is a power eater and if your power supply goes below 11 volts the mount will not function properly and you take the chance of blowing the mother board. The mount will warn you when it is hungry for more power when the power light blinks on and off quickly. Once you do a three star alignment the go to works great however you do need a good polar alignment. The mount can hold a mx of 44 pounds for visual but if you are into astrophotography with long exposures I suggest you don't go over 30 pounds. This is a popular mount and I have four skywatcher mounts and they work well but be careful when you get one because skywatcher is not noted for great quality control so examine your mount and test it before you throw the box away. And never throw away the foam packing since you can use it to safely transport the mount to a dark observing site. Clear Skies to you!
