Give your complex acoustic instruments the sound they deserve with the Telefunken Alchemy Series TF11, presented here in a stereo matched pair. Each mic is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone designed to give you an open, airy sound, all while handling high SPLs. Suitable for the project studio, the professional studio, and the stage, these cardioid microphones deliver a sound similar to the world-renowned C12, yet doing so with modern, low-noise performance specifications befitting a present-day FET amplifier.
The mics' componentry promise an open, detailed, and dimensional sound across their 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range. Expect rich lows, a punchy midrange, and sonorous, sweet highs. Able to capture SPLs of 135 dB, these mics can handle anything from the human voice to a drum overhead. With two matched mics, you can record or amplify drum overheads, pianos, choirs, and other instruments befitting multiple matched mics. The built-in FET amplifier ensures a low self-noise of about 4 dBa.
Each TF11 shares components in common with other Telefunken Elektroakustik designs, such as its single-membraned, CK12-style, edge-terminated capsule. The built-in amplifiers comprise a proprietary take on the classic M50 FET design. This is coupled with a custom, large-format, nickel-iron core transformer fashioned by OEP/Carnhill, a renowned manufacturer. These mics also make use of premium film capacitors, Nichicon Fine Gold electrolytic capacitors, and high-performance, ultralow-noise JFET amplifiers, all to ensure their quiet, yet characterful sonic pickup.
The microphones come with a zippered mic case that can transport both mics. Dust covers are also included, as are two different mic mounts for each mic (two hard mounts and two shockmounts). Whether you need to capture multiple vocals in the living room, a stereo piano in a live room, or stereo drum overheads on the stage, this matched pair of TF11 microphones will deliver with aplomb. Bedroom vocals, live drum overheads, or studio guitar amps, the TF11 will deliver consistently excellent results.
