So I initially got this for some expensive A-mount lenses that I wanted to use, but they didn't ever settle into focus. Then after returning those I decided to try this with my husbands inherited Minolta lenses. ITS PERFECT!!! The autofocus does what it should and it helped convince me that it was the fault of those used lenses and not the adaptor. I'm so happy to be able to use these, and the bokeh of the older lenses are a dream! Couldn't recommend this adaptor more!

Great product - I can use many of my legacy Minolta-Konica-Sony-Alpha autofocus lenses. Autofocus works well for more current A-mount lenses. Continuous autofocus is slower than the Sony-A mount camera but still livable. Autofocus does not work for the old Minolta A-mount cameras but I can still revert to doing it manually.

While Austin is correct that you can do it with the LA-EA4 it's not the only option. The LA-EA2 works the same but is for APS-C sensors. You can even use AF with Screw Drive lenses.

According to Sony's website, autofocus cannot be used when mounting the Minolta 500mm F/8 AF Reflex Mirror Lens on the Sony LA-EA5 A-Mount to E-Mount Adapter. As such, you would need to use the LA-EA4 if you require autofocus compatibility.
