The LA-EA5 Adapter enables the use of Sony A-mount lenses on E-mount mirrorless camera bodies, and maintains full lens performance, including AF with SSM, SAM, and even AF lenses without an internal motor, as well as relays in-camera corrective features. Maintaining the functionality of both the lens and the camera, this adapter is tested to support phase-detection autofocus in order to provide Real-time Tracking and Eye AF functions, as well as quick continuous shooting up to 11 fps with AF/AE tracking. AF and AE tracking are even supported with lenses lacking an internal motor when working with the Alpha a7R IV and a6600 cameras. The adapter has no optical components to affect image quality and its fully electronic design also retains Exif data transmission to benefit post-production and file management. Additionally, its sleek cylindrical design is well-suited to camera bodies with an attached vertical grip.
- A-Mount Lens to E-Mount Body

Sony LA-EA5 Reviews
Life saver and quick shipping
This purchase was a series in building a perfect situation. I have this connected to my Sony G 70-200 and I love it. It lives on the lens
Great to use type A lens on Sonya7RV
The Good, I can use my Sony a Mount from my Sony SLT A77M2 with my Sony a7RV. Focusing while taking photos is fast, accurate, no issues at all. The Bad: I can only shoot at 26 MP not at 61 because the camera goes into crop mode, but the 26 mp photos are great. The issue happens on Video, it will not autofocus on video mode, it only works as a Manual Focus lens.
Works okay
This adapter did not work for what I need it for. It does attach well to camera and my A lens did attach well to the adapter, but it did not work with my sony A mount wide angle lens. Photo was darker and not as sharp as they normally are when lens is attached to my A77mrk camera. It does work, but not for what I need.
Sony LA-EA5 A-Mount to E-Mount adapter
Got the LA-EA5 adapter for my new a7RV, to work with my A-mount lenses. Works great, even with a 40yr-old Minolta 28-85mm lens!!
Lot of help
I got this adaptor instead of having to replace all my lenses. Focus is a little slower but good compromise
Second Time is the Charm!
I purchased this adapter right after it came out. Then I had an A7lll. It did not work at all on my stable of A mount lenses. I was quite upset with Sony, and felt they had screwed with their fan base, and returned it to B&H. But recently I bought an A7lV, and found out that my LA-EA4 was unusable with my new camera. So in researching, I found out that the LA-EA5 does work. I decided to purchase it again, because B&H is so reliable if I was unhappy. Well this sucker works miracles with my A7IV! My 12-24 Sigma, my 85mm Minolta, and all other A mount lenses now get eye focus on my camera. This is nothing short of amazing, and I'm happy I tried this a second time. It only works with selected Sony cameras. There should be an easier way to identify what bodies it works with. But it is amazing when it does!!!!
Works fine for some lenses (if they are newer)
I am into photography for over 50 years and just switched from an Sony A99 to a Sony A7R III. I have a ton of older lenses (well some Minolta lenses from 40 years ago to some Tamron and Sigma lenses). The Sigma Lenses 70 - 200 and 150 - 500 work fine with this Adapter and that is 3000$ worth of lenses right there I can still use on the new camera. That is worth it for sure. I wish more lenses were supported like my 85mm 1.4, my 28mm 1.8 and my 50mm 1.8 but oh well.
Big Improvement!
Trimmer adapter without all the bulky undercarriage. Be sure to check what A lenses work with this adapter and your camera.
