DITEK DTK-110C6APOE Reviews

Use the right tool...or else

As noted elsewhere, a proper 110 punch-down tool is mandatory for installing this device. Both the instructions and the markings on the printed circuit board clearly and unambiguously explain the proper connections by color code (568A and 568B differ), but what is not stated is the necessity of very closely and carefully examining each individual wire connection to ensure that the wire is fully seated in the IDC connector, with contact made through the insulation. For those without experience with this type of connection, the wires are not stripped of insulation. If the device does not pass signals through (the activity and link lights never light up on the connected equipment), then this indicates a bad connection on one or more of the wires. The margin of error on these connections is zero: all must be correct. As for how well the device itself functions, that judgment must await the next lightning strike on the phone line outside the building.

Warning: 110 tool IS required

Note carefully that the 110 in the description means that the device uses 110 IDC connections, and these REQUIRE a proper 110 tool, as used by telephone techs. This should be explained in the product description.
