The mic comes with two USB cables for USB-Type A and USB Type-C connectivity, plus a Lightning cable for iOS connectivity.

Shure MV51 Reviews

Great audio, cool looking

Plug and play with the Mac; however, I could not do so through a third-party USB 3.0 hub-- it had to go directly to the Mac via USB-C. Great audio. I have not tried the onboard headphone functionality. Nobody on conference calls complain that you are in a well or a warehouse. It's great audio, 2 feet from my mouth, and just out of the camera view. Even if it's visible, it's cool looking.

Im using it for my end of ZOOM video depositions. As the videographer Im the host and everyone says I sound great. The on-board MUTE button is a lot easier than trying to mouse over to the mute button screen. And it LOOKS so cool!!

How would I connect this to a mic stand? Is there a way to do so that would not involve screwing it on (to release it more quickly)?
Asked by: Cade
You could try using a mic quick release adaptor. It's a device you would mount to the stand and screw the MV51 into that would allow for you to separate the two with a quick intentional motion (varies by model). Shure does not make one, however there are various models available from other manufacturers, such as the GFW-MIC-QRTOP from Gator Frameworks.

Anybody have trouble with the usb cable staying in the usb connector?
Asked by: Elliott
Well, I can't upload a photo but there are some micro-USB ends that will work better. I spent some time trying to figure this out. Typically people post photos of the "bottom" side of the micro end. But it's the top, or narrower, side that is important. There are some cables, like the original one, which Shure told me they discontinued. That cable has two little extra lines/cuts on the top (as well as on the bottom). I think those things act as little springs, so the micro stays put better. I have tried both "smooth" top cables and the ones with the little cuts, which stay connected much better. Granted, they are only a few micros tall. But in that little space, I think it helps. Now I can move my mic stand a centimeter over very gently and it doesn't drop the connection. There isn't a text description for that kind of micro-USB extra feature, that I could find. I just looked carefully at my cable (to the iPad) and tried to figure why it stayed better connected than my micro-to-desktop cable. I can't upload my photo -- too bad! Just look carefully at photos of reviews of cables and you'll probably find one. My mic is out of warranty now and I am not ready to turn it into e-waste when it's such a small component that failed.
