VIJIM VL100 Overview

The VL-100C Vari-Color Temperature LED Video Light from VIJIM is a compact variable color on-camera light fixture with integrated manual dimming and color temperature thumbwheels. The fixture features integrated diffusion and has an illumination angle of 120° with a specified effective range of 9.84 to 19.69'. The built-in 2000mAh battery provides up to two hours of runtime at maximum brightness.

The fixture itself features four cold shoes, one on each side. The included tiltable shoe mount allows mounting the light on your camera and adjusting the angle of the light. The included assembling mount (fixture connector) enables stacking two VL-100C units together horizontally or vertically.

Nice inexpensive light

I bought this for some macro photography I wanted to try. Works well but requires some tweaking during editing to get the color correct. Note there is no indication of color temperature or even a repeatable way of setting the temperature. There is just a simple potentiometer. One has to just 'eye-ball' it. It has two different colors of LED (yellowish-amber and blueish-white to my eye).

While the pink/orange color hue is not very useful (wish that ALL the bulbs were white), I love the size, weight, brightness, range, and the rechargeable battery. Charges quickly and lasts long enough to use when doing insect photography at night. The red battery status lights are very helpful to gauge how much longer charge will last, and it's nice that the brightness level stays constant as battery depletes.
