Beggars Can’t Be Choosers - It gets the job done but…

[As of April 2025]Confirming this product fully supports Canon R5C 8K recording at 60FPS . This was definitely a ‘Purchase of Last Resort’. The cable feels flimsy and I am not particularly confident in the wire-to-P-Tap connection. Ironically, I will probably wind up purchasing another one as a backup. Configuration: 1) Canon DC Coupler DR-E6C 2) VB99 Pro mini V Mount Battery 3) Anton/Bauer P-Tap to Canon 9V Barrel Cable (20)

Wired incorrectly

There are not many options when it comes to getting 9v power for the Canon R5C. This is the only officially approved adapter by Canon with voltage regulation. The Anton Bauer regulated cable would be great except you might just get a defective cable when ordering. I went through a lot of frustration troubleshooting this cable when it wouldn't work out of the box. Eventually I discovered that it was wired with the incorrect polarity on the output side. If you're comfortable with soldering you can re-wire it correctly but otherwise this is a $100 cable that you probably have a 70% chance of being wired incorrectly. I've heard from others they've ordered multiple cables to find out they were still defective. AB needs to fix this asap.

I presume P-tap is Anton-Bauer's "differentiated" way of saying D-tap? Want to make sure this will work with my IDX D-tap batteries
Asked by: Eric
The Anton Bauer P-Tap to Canon 9V Barrel Cable has a P-Tap port. This is a trademarked brand name from Anton Bauer. D-Tap however is the same since other manufacturers can't use the P-Tap brand name with their products.

Yes, The Anton/Bauer P-Tap to Canon 9V Barrel Cable would work with Dtap connectors on V-Mount plates and batteries as well.

Would this work with the Canon XF405 camera?
Asked by: Rex
The Wooden Camera 249600, which is now discontinued, worked for me. It listed the same cameras, all but the XF-400/405. If I had to order another one, I would order this. I'm not recommending, I'm just stating the facts.

we have tried two of these now for the R5c and neither of them have worked, has anyone else had any issues with these? (One difference we've noticed vs the product photo is that the ones we've received have smaller gauge wires). We suspect that Anton has made a manufacturing change which is not compatible with the R5c and canon's DR-EC6...

I ordered this Item in May of 2021 and it is the exact one the is pictured with the single thicker wire, and to no surprise it WORKS PERFECT with the Canon R5c!! I ordered the exact one in December of 2023, and then again in January of 2024 and they sent me this garbage of a very thin double wire that DOES NOT WORK! Even after explaining it to B&H, they just shipped me the same wrong garbage of double thin wire again if February that DOES NOT WORK!! The puzzling thing is the correct one is pictured!!! But they continue to send the cheaper one!! Save a penny lose a dollar!!! MAKES NO SENSE!!
