Marantz CD6007 Overview

It has a front-loading tray that accepts your CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs encoded with various audio file types, including MP3, WMA, and WAV. It includes a stereo RCA cable, a remote cable, and a remote control as an added convenience.

HDAM Technology
The HDAMs are discrete circuit boards designed to replace standard ICs. They consist of discrete surface-mount components with short mirror-image L/R signal paths. They're designed to do the same thing as op-amps, but outperform them in terms of slew rate and reduced noise level to provide more dynamic, accurate, and detailed sound. The HDAM-SA2 circuit in the CD6007 is engineered to provide a more stable power supply than previous HDAM versions; the idling current stability is less influenced by power transistor temperatures to help maintain sound performance, even at high level output.
Hi-Res D/A Conversion
The CD6007 features a Hi-Res AK4490 digital-to-analog converter, offering two selectable filter options and providing up to 192 kHz / 24-bit PCM and DSD 5.6 MHz resolution for enhanced musical fidelity with tight bass, smooth midrange, and extended highs for CD playback and Hi-Res formats from your USB drive.
High-Current Power Supply
The El-style power supply uses high-speed, high-current Shottky Barrier Diodes and high-value current storage capacitors, which have been increased in size to augment current stability and reduce AC noise during demanding listening sections.
HDAM-SA2 Headphone Amplifier with Headphone Amp Gain Setting
The CD6007 includes a redesigned headphone amplifier section, using the HDAM-SA2 circuit with three gain settings (Low/Mid/High) to match nearly any brand of headphones for an optimal private listening experience. The headphone amp is also equipped with an "Off Circuit" function that automatically turns the headphone amplifier off when headphones aren't connected to help prevent unwanted interference or noise.
Plays Hi-Res Audio USB Sources
The CD6007 can play MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF (up to 192 kHz / 24-bit), and DSD (up to 5.6 MHz) files from a connected USB storage device.
Digital Filter
The CD6007 features a two-mode filter (Filter1/Filter2) that allows for optimized reproduction of digital music content using the onboard DAC to your taste. Filter1 is a slow roll-off preset that enhances deep stereo imaging, while Filter2 is a sharp roll-off filter for more precise imaging.

Marantz CD6007 Reviews

High Quality All Around

This is a clear improvement over my previous CD player (admittedly a 20-year-old CEC CD3300R). The soundstage has more definition and—at its default settings—the Marantz just sounds more, well, musical. Controls are simple yet effective and sufficient. The display is uncluttered and blessedly dimmable. I do miss not having an index indicator for the (few) CDs that use this track subset. That minor quibble aside, the unit appears well designed and constructed, and sonically flawless. Highly recommended.

Magnificent

I purchased the 6007 about a month ago as a replacement for a different CD player still in use. Only a few minutes elapsed between a last playback on the old equipment and my first experience with the Marantz. The difference far exceeded anything I had expected from making this simple change. The sound stage experience is impressive, with greater depth, width, and differentiation between channels, while also lending a 3-D sense to the music. Sound quality is much warmer, resonant, and rounder -- truly satisfying. Especially important is that the timbre of the various instruments and voices is clearly differentiated. One can hear performers draw a breath or pluck a string. And performance at the highest and lowest frequencies is excellent, not shrill or muddy. As a lover of music ranging from rock/folk/jazz to orchestral, opera, and early music this kind of sonic versatility is paramount. The listener is treated to the illusion of sitting near the musicians rather than in front of some speakers. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made.
