Aging long-tele bird photog here! I want to use this mostly as support to help get up/down from prone position. Could the wrist strap accept a big D-hook (carabiner clip) so I could hook the monopod to my belt?

The camera mounting screw is much larger than on my dslr. What adapter do I need?

The mounting thread on this monopod has a smaller mounting thread inside the larger one. You just have to push down on the edge of the larger one to expose the smaller one on the inside.

Manfrotto Element MII Video Monopod only has a tilting base with fluid cartridge. You would not be able to locked this accesory.

Can a non-Manfrotto head be used with this monopod? Could a head with Arca-Swiss QR plates be used instead?

Yes, the Manfrotto Element MII Video Monopod can work with most heads. The top is a 3/8 inch male thread which is standard and reversible 1/4 inch thread. So most heads have that connection.
