The Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 is the latest compact Super35 camera to join the Blackmagic Design series. This cine-style camera features the same 6K S35 sensor, recording features, dynamic range, interface ports, and controls as the 6K Pro, but pares a few features to create a more affordable form. A camera status indicator allows you to keep an eye on the camera's internal record settings, battery status, and remaining recording time. A red edge display shows when the camera is recording internally, whether triggered by the camera or from the Shinobi II.
AtomOS 11 & Advanced Image Tools
The Shinobi II includes the latest Atomos AtomOS 11, which introduces numerous new tools and features with a more logical layout and easy-to-navigate interface.

Use the Shinobi II interface to adjust your camera lenses' aperture, shutter speed/angle, and ISO with its built-in exposure tools, such as false color (Atomos, ARRI, and EL ZONE colorized exposure modes), waveforms, zebras, or histogram, and achieve perfect exposure on every shot.

Brighter Display

The 50mm T1.5 AS UMC Cine DS Lens for Canon EF Mount from Rokinon is a fast manual focus prime lens. It provides a very fast maximum aperture of T1.5 for effective low light capture and shallow depth of field control and an 8 blade iris for attractive bokeh. Optimized for cinema and video applications, the focus and aperture control rings are outfitted with industry standard gearing, which provides an interface for working with a traditional follow focus. The aperture control ring has also been de-clicked, which enables smooth iris pulls. In addition, bright aperture and distance markings are printed on the lens barrel facing laterally to facilitate easier control by a focus puller.

With this 50mm lens, Rokinon introduces the DS series of cinema lenses, unifying their cine lenses in more than just name. Each of the DS branded lenses will offer the same alignment of their geared focus and aperture rings so that follow focus and other rig accessories won't need re-adjustment when swapping lenses. Also, each DS lens is tested to be color matched with the other lenses in the series and provide the same color and contrast when shooting video. Lastly, the lenses are marked with focusing scales on each side of the barrel for easier adjustment from either side of the camera.

Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod

The Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod is a three-section support that replaces the 055XPROB tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50%, and its load capacity by 4.4 lb over its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. The Manfrotto 502AH Pro Video Head with Flat Base is an affordable yet remarkably fully featured professional head that represents an advance over the popular 501HDV, with sturdier construction and featuring Manfrotto's patented bridging technology (inherited from the 509 and 504 heads). This head is designed for executing cinematic moves with compact camcorders and DSLR cameras. The 502AH comes in two versions—the "AH" flat base version with a 3/8"-16 mounting hole such as this one, and the "A" ball base version, which is separately available.

The weight capacity is 22 lb and the counterbalance supports 8.8 lb. The balance plate's 3.27" range allows you to correct for uneven payloads due to matte boxes or DSLR rig configurations.

This camera has three major flaws. 1. The auto focus is terrible. It doesn't seem to auto focus unless you push the auto focus button and even then it is very slow to respond and needs to be pushed multiple times to get the correct focus. 2. The internal IR cut filter is cheap quality. It corrodes and damages very easily and a BlackMagic replacement is $200. $200 for a filter the size of a .50 cent piece! I purchased a replacement and it came with defects and they offer NO REFUNDS. 3. The battery does not last long at all. I'm not very happy with this camera or BlackMagic support and will NOT be buying another BlackMagic camera.

The Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 will record video in Blackmagic RAW or ProRes. Photos taken with the camera are stored in the DNG format, not Cinema DNG.

The Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 (B&H# BL6KPKCAMG2) possesses a mount that is Canon EF/EF-S compatible and will therefore only accept lenses of that type. To date, no Blackmagic Design camera accepts Sony A or E/FE mount lenses. Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 has a 1/4-20 thread, not a cold shoe accessory. You can add screw down cold shoe. However if you would be mounting multiple accesories to the camera we recomend considering a dedicated cage.

Because the 6K G2 came out after the 6K Pro and has the 2 in its name many people are confused and think the G2 is an Upgrade. The G2 is actually a down grade from the Pro as they took out the ND filters, lowered the screed brightness and lowered the PRICE! This camera was made to service those of us who plan to use it more for indoor broadcast scenarios like a multi camera shoot with the ATEM Mini Switcher. We still have a great camera that can be used for cinema if we choose to. Thank you Blackmagic Design!
