The Midland MXT115VP3 bundles the Midland MXT115 MicroMobile 15-channel two-way GMRS radio with a 3 dB ghost antenna and a universal lip mount, effectively doubling the range of the MXT115 while allowing the antenna to be mounted without drilling into your car, truck, RV, or UTV.
Intended for mounting either under the dash or vertically on the center console, the radio comes with a mounting bracket for quick installation and can either be hardwired to the vehicle's electrical system or via the included 12 VDC adapter. In addition to the 15 GMRS channels and 142 privacy codes, the MXT115 radio offers NOAA weather radio functionality and a scanning feature to quickly scan all 10 weather channels to find an active one.
To increase transmission distance, the radio features eight selectable repeater channels (channels 15-22). The backlit LCD screen allows for use even in low-light conditions, and the on/off knob provides a quick and easy way to adjust the volume.

This is a great bundle package with everything you need! I am very pleased with the quality and how fast the shipment arrived. What I like about the Midland products is the fact they are plug and play!

The radio will not change to high power mode as there is no setting to change like the manual suggests. The ability to switch should lie between pt and sq in the menu settings and it's not there. The phone number says to use the contact form and the send button does not work on any browsers. It also offers an email address but no one is replying. I've installed three and I'm going to have to return them all to b&h. Buyer beware

Can this be mounted/used in a cabin or tent or must it be installed in an automobile?
It can be used in a cabin or tent, the thing to keep in mind is that this runs off of 12v, so you will not connect it to household electrical. You can use it with a 12v RV battery, which is basically what most solar systems will use as storage.

You do not program this radio, it is set for GMRS frequencies when recieved
