Sony C-800G Overview

The C-800G Studio Tube Condenser Microphone from Sony is a legendary tube condenser microphone featured here in a bundle with its dedicated external power supply. This mic offers a silky smooth audio capture for vocals and instruments alike. Use it when you need an intimate, polished sound in the pro studio.

At the core of the C-800G's excellent sonic character is a 6AU6 vacuum tube, which provides warmth and presence to the input signal. Great care has been taken to ensure that the mic provides sonic character and little else: the aluminum construction and integrated cooling system keep inherent noise and unwanted sonic artifacts out of your recordings.

The large-diaphragm condenser element yields a true frequency response of 20 Hz to 18 kHz, with a dynamic range of 113 dB. Cardioid and unidirectional polar patterns are user switchable at the front of the microphone, allowing you to select the polar pattern from the mic itself, rather than the power supply. Included with the microphone is the external power supply as well as the corresponding 7-pin XLR cable, a mounting basket, stand-screw adapters for your mic stand, and a wooden case.

Vacuum Tube Electronics
At the core of the C-800G's excellent sonic character is a 6AU6 vacuum tube. The tube provides outstanding warmth and presence to the input signal making the C-800G a viable solution for instrument and vocal recording.
Exceptional Signal Response
The large-diaphragm condenser element yields a true frequency response of 20 Hz to 18 kHz with a dynamic range of 113 dB. The result is an even, flat frequency response that maintains detail with low signals and transients.
Switchable Polar Patterns
Cardioid and unidirectional polar patterns are user switchable at the front of the microphone. This allows complete pickup control for instrument and vocal capturing.
Integrated Cooling System
The microphone sports a built-in thermoelectric cooling system employing a semiconductor device, heat pipe, and heat sink, which greatly contribute to the low noise and low distortion characteristics of the mic.
With a high sensitivity of -28 dB/Pa, the C-800G microphone can capture subtle nuances at high frequencies with low noise levels and minimum distortion.
Aluminum Body
The C-800G microphone incorporates a two-part aluminum body that helps to prevent acoustic vibration from reaching the microphone capsule, resulting in clarity of sonic reproduction.
AC Power Supply Included
The external power supply ships with this mic, as does the corresponding cable, a mounting basket, two stand-screw adapters, and a case.

THE vocal sound of popular music for the past 3 decades came from this mic. You can achieve great results with other mics. But this is a modern studio staple.

Does the power supply accept 240V AC?
Asked by: Kevin
The included power supply for the Sony C-800G Studio Tube Condenser Microphone that we sell operates at 120V AC. You can use a step-down transformer to convert the voltage coming from a 240V AC power outlet to 120V AC.
