A subset of the Synchron Percussion II collection, Vienna Symphonic Library Synchron Mallets II Full Library is a virtual instrument with a library that accurately captures the sound of a vibraphone and a set of crotales. The instruments were recorded at Synchron Stage A Vienna with every nuanced detail using seven phase-controlled multimicrophone setups. The included Synchron Player allows you to mix the microphones to create stereo, 5.1 surround, or Auro 3D mixes, each with different levels of ambience and stereo panorama.
Synchron Mallets II features a Musser vibraphone recorded with up to eight dynamic layers and eight round-robins for single strokes. Articulations include motor on and off, hard and soft mallet, single notes open and secco, and rolls. Effect techniques include pitch bend (using a hard mallet drawn with pressure over the sound bar), harmonics (the sound bar is pressed in the middle and played at its suspension point), and glissandos. The instrument was also played with a mallet handle, rubbed with a super ball, and bowed.
The library offers a set of Bergerault crotales in a range of two octaves (C6-C8). They were played with plastic and metal beaters, and sampled with up to eight dynamic layers and four round-robins. Rolls, glissandos, and bowed articulations are included as well.
