Saramonic SR-M1 Overview

The black Saramonic SR-M1 is an omnidirectional lavalier microphone featuring a 4.1' cable with a 3.5mm TRS mini plug compatible with audio recorders, DSLR/mirrorless cameras, and a wide variety of wireless systems including the Blink 500 and Blink 500 Pro.

The small size of the lav allows for discreet placement using the included lapel clip, while the 4.1' cable length is well suited for use with a wireless transmitter or handheld recorder. A wide range of compatible devices makes the cost-effective SR-M1 a good choice as a spare or backup mic for content creators. The mic capsule's forgiving omnidirectional pickup pattern helps to keep levels consistent, even when the talent turn away from the mic. The foam windscreen helps reduce breath sounds and light wind noise, while the lapel clip allows you to easily attach the mic to clothing.

3.5mm Connector
  • The SR-M1 features a non-locking 3.5mm connector that is compatible with a wide variety of transmitters, cameras, portable audio recorders, and similar devices equipped with a compatible input connector and the ability to supply the mic with 1 to 10V of plug-in power.
  • The non-locking 3.5mm connector is compatible with many devices that use a locking 3.5mm connector, but the connection is less secure and reliable without the locking mechanism.

Saramonic SR-M1 Reviews

Terrible mono audio

I'm unsure if it's just the decade-plus-old camera I'm using, but not only is the audio only recorded in one channel and not in stereo, but there's horrible background noise. Using my camera's built-in microphone is actually better.

Works like it should.

Clean recordings and easy to set up. I will be using two of these with a Breakout cable to keep each mic on a different track connected to a Zoom H1n.

Is the compatible with Sony UWP series?

Is the compatible with Sony UWP series?
Asked by: Dylan
No, the Saramonic SR-M1 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone Cable with 3.5mm TRS Connector (Black) is not compatible for use with the Sony UWP series wireless transmitters. Sony uses a locking 3.5mm connector with a proprietary wiring scheme. For a compatible lower-priced lavalier microphone that will work with a Sony UWP transmitter, you can use the Saramonic DK3B Premium Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for Sony UWP, UWP-D, and WRT Transmitters - Locking 3.5mm TRS Connector (B&H # SADK3B) or the Senal OLM-2 Lavalier Microphone with 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sony UWP Transmitters (B&H # SEOLM2S).

Is this compatible with BlackMagic Design Studio Pro 4K cameras?
Asked by: Leslie
Yes, it is compatible. But the cable is only about 4' long. If that works for you, you might want to look at the Saramonic SR-M1 B&H ID: SASRM1. It is the same mic, but does not have the locking connector and is less than 1/2 the price.

No, but you can extend it with a Saramonic SR-SC2500 10' extension cable. It will not have locking connectors, but it will work perfectly.

How does this mic compare to the DK3A one from Saramonic?
Asked by: Allen
It is a good microphone and is the mic included with the UwMic9, UwMic15 and VmicLink5 systems, but the DK3A is a far superior microphone. It will give you much higher-quality sound and a smoother frequency response. It also comes with a suite of accessories that the SR-UM10-M1 does not. So if you can afford the DK3A over the SR-UM10-M1, you will be much happier with the result.
