Powered using its integrated 2000mAh lithium-ion battery, it is charged using the USB-C port and lasts from approximately ten hours on the lowest dimmer setting to the highest brightness at about two hours. It features battery status and color temperature status on the back mini color display. The VL-49 light features 0 to 100% dimming and an integrated diffusion filter for soft light emission. It also has multiple color modes, as well as color brightness and hue adjustments for different looks.The light features integrated magnets that allow it to be mounted on any flat metal surface, offering a variety of mounting options. In addition, its bottom shoe adapter with 1/4"-20 thread and three shoe mounts around each side enable you to stack multiple units for increased light levels.

It's really a good fill light and not much more but if your shooting close in or macro, it may be just all that you need. Not that it was a disappointment, I enjoy using it because basically I'm a macro shoot for the biggest part, so I find it a great weight reducer in regards to a big heavy flash unit and its ability to hold a good charge for quite a number of photographs so far, has been more than adequate. Is it a good purchase? Well that depends on the user. As a macro shooter, I think it's a good unit to have handy when a flash is obviously way to much, unless your at a rock concert or something akin too. It's not all that expensive, I purchased two and I already see numerous possibilities for its use because I am a photo-microscopist as well.

The third button from the left is the mode button press that and then use the arrow buttons to get you to the desired settings on the light.
