    X-Rite i1Basic Pro 3 Reviews

    X-Rite FTW!

Just upgraded to the i1Pro3 spectrometer and I'm super happy. I use it with DisplayCal - the ArgyllCMS frontend - in order to profile and calibrate my LG monitor as part of my color managed workflow. Gamut coverage achieved at D50, 75 nits was amazing: 99.9% sRGB, 93.5% Adobe RGB and 94.6% DCI P3. Average ΔE = 0.31 and max ΔE = 1.24 I was never able to get numbers like this using colorimeters. Yes, the X-rite i1Basic Pro 3 package is pricey; but if color is important to you, and you want the images on your screen to match your prints, this is the way to go.

    Much faster than previous eye1

I found that tue reading in of the colors are at least twice as fast. Delivers the same consistent tonal corrections that make color editing a breeze.

Can this be used to make large format printer profiles? I work with Onyx software.
    Asked by: Earl
Only if the version of your Onyx RIP can generate ICC Printer Profiles AND your version of Onyx supports the i1Pro 3 spectrophotometers. so, you will need to contact Onyx for confirmation.

I am assuming that an RGB printer counts as one device. What happens when the printer is replaced with another RGB printer, does the count decreace?
    Asked by: Lefteris
The i1Basic Pro 3 is not licensed to profile printers of any kind. You are limited to a maximum of 4 connected MONITORS for Display Profiling. There is no limit on printers.

Can this unit be used to create a colorimeter ...

Can this unit be used to create a colorimeter profile - like i1Display Pro Plus - for a display?
    Asked by: Willian
X-Rite has never had a methodology to do that in the field. If somebody else is claiming to be able to perform a colorimeter profile, direct your questions to them. The X-Rite i1Display colorimeters are characterized and calibrated with spectrophotometers at the manufacturing facility before shipping. There should be no need for additional calibrating or profiling the colorimeter thereafter.

Can I create a printer profile that measures ...

Can I create a printer profile that measures custom illuminant with the program provided in I1Basic Pro 3?
    Asked by: seunghee
No, the i1Basic Pro 3 does not have licensing for any Printer Profiling. The i1Publish Pro 3 can create Printer Profiles, and you can choose any standard Illuminant (defaults to D50), choose a specific Kelvin Temperature, or Measure Ambient Room Light to use as the illuminant.
