Spider Camera Holster SpiderPro Clamp v2 Reviews

Solid, could be less expensive

I've been using the SpiderPro system for years, and, like all of their components, this feels solid and reliable. I use it to clamp onto the Zf-GR1 plate/grip on my Nikon Zf. When I have a Nikkor Z 70-180mm f/2.8 mounted on the Zf, it balances nicely, and the Spider Pins don't get in the way. Unfortunately, when paired with a Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S, the balance is farther back, and the pins dig into my hand a bit. This product seems a bit expensive for a relatively simple piece of metal, but when you're trusting this little clamp to support thousands of dollars worth of gear, you don't want to cut corners. Spider Holster makes quality, long-lived gear. However, for the price, they could at least throw in an Allen/hex wrench to tighten it down. I don't trust finger-tightening to hold it in place over the long-term. A built-in wrench holder like their SpiderPro DSLR plates have would be a nice improvement.

Surprised there are new reviews!

I have been a big fan of the Spider Pro system for a while. I have used Spider Pro plates on my smaller cameras like Nikon D750 and D850. However, with my Nikon D5, I found that having the plate on was uncomfortable for hand-holding, so instead I would just use it without. This clamp allows me to use my D5 with a Spider Pro clip when I want, and to remove it for more comfortable hand holding when I don.t It's also nice when you have the spider lens plate on a lens like a 70-200mm 2.8, as you don't need one on the body as well. I am happy to say that this never seems to loosen. I have checked tightness on this several times while using, and it's never budged.

How does this feel in your hand when shooting? It appears it gets in the way of your fingers when shooting. Any thoughts?

Thank you Steven - we have designed the SpiderPro Clamp v2 as ergonomic as possible. The distance between the two pins is wide so most users can place the palm of the hand there. That area in between the pins is also as smooth as possible to accommodate human handling while shooting. Thank you, Spider Team
