Supporting an Android phone or computer for streaming and offered in a highly compact design, the IOGEAR UpStream Mobile Capture Adapter provides a truly mobile solution for capturing and live streaming camera signals, gameplay, and various other HDMI sources.
It accepts up to a UHD 4K60 HDMI input and features an HDMI loop output for connecting a display for local monitoring in 4K. The captured signal is automatically downscaled to 1080p60 for live streaming over a USB Type-C output. Your laptop, desktop, or Android phone or tablet connects to the USB Type-C port, and you can then stream from various platforms. Using a computer, you can use virtually any streaming platform. If you plug in an Android phone instead, you can use any streaming app that supports the UVC capture protocol, such as the CameraFi Live app. (Also, using an appropriate HDMI adapter cable, you can use an Android phone as the main source, instead of a camera or gaming system.)
A second USB Type-C port is provided for connecting an optional power bank (5V/2A) for powering the device when using a smartphone. The UpStream Mobile Capture Adapter doesn't use any external power source. It gets powered from the computer (Mac/Windows) or phone it's connected to. But a phone battery doesn't last too long when streaming, especially for extended live streams. That's where a power bank comes in. It powers the device as well as your phone, allowing you to conduct long streaming sessions.
Also, there's a "phone" button next to the USB ports for switching between USB 3.1 and USB 2.0 output. Most new laptops/phones you connect to will stream over USB 3.1. But some Android phones are limited to USB 2.0, in which case you can press this "phone" button to switch to 2.0. When you do make the switch, the button will light up, letting you know that you're using USB 2.0.
The UpStream Mobile Capture Adapter is small and ultralightweight, and featuring a 1/4"-20 mounting thread, it can easily be integrated into your live streaming setup. Two USB cables are included for connecting your computer or Android phone.
