When the V-mount battery dies during a take, the power sauce will be swapped to the BP-U battery seamlessly if it's in place?
I know this was asked a while ago, but for anyone else with the same question: Yes, if the V-mount battery dies while in use AND a BP-U battery is installed in the camera, the camera's power source will automatically switch to the BP-U battery seamlessly. So yes, this product allows you to hot swap V-mount batteries so long is you also have a BP-U battery installed in the camera. Note: For any additional accessories being powered via the P-tap ports on the Wooden Camera Battery Slide Pro for Sony FX6 (V-Mount), they will lose power (i.e., Teradek TX units, on-camera monitors, etc.)

No, the Wooden Camera Battery Slide Pro for Sony FX6 (V-Mount) does not have the appropriate mounting for the Sony PXW-FX9 XDCAM 6K Full-Frame Camera System (Body Only). The Wooden Camera Battery Slide Pro V-Mount for Sony FX9 is an appropriate plate. See the link below:

Does the plate have enough clearance if you use in tandem with IDX 98 BP-U batteries?
Not really- you can fit an IDX BPU 98 in the camera but the V-lock plate rests on the battery at a 45 degree angle. The IDX BPU 50 fits with no problem.
