10Gb/s with M1 Mac. Sturdy construction.

For any M1 Mac with a USB-C port (MacBook Air, Mac mini, MacBook Pro, Mac Studio) the Transcend will transfer at 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 speed and NOT 20 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 speeds. Interestingly enough, the additional provided USB-C to USB-A cable allows 10 Gb/s to the rear USB-A port of the Mac Studio even though Apple advertises the port to go up to only 5 Gb/s. The unit has a pleasant rubberized optional cover that feels good in hand and doesn't scratch other devices in your bag.

Solidly built, works great for fast data transfers. Nice rubbery protective shell. If you leave it plugged into your pc, it will draw a small amount of power, even with no express card in it or when pc is powered down. So best to unplug the reader when you are not using it.

My first use of the CF express card. The card comes out a little warm. The reader is room temp.

This is easily the best of the four brands I have used. Good price, solid construction, very fast, and it doesn't get hot to the touch after extended use like the others. Also, its footprint is slightly smaller than the others. Highly recommended.

Rugged, fast, and cool (literally). Less expensive and stays cooler to the touch than other CFexpress readers I have used. Highly recommended.

When I transferred the 83GB image on my prograde cfexpress 256GB card on my macbook pro 13" m1 computer, it would altar in exactly 2 minutes. I learned that the macbook pro m1 supports 10gb/s and 40gb/s, if it did not support 20gb/s, I think it would transfer faster.

Super fast

is there a driver for this? I'm trying to connect to pc via usb c connector, and it is not recognizing the drive. It is recognized when connect via usb 3.0... so whats up, any drivers?
Asked by: rob
I contacted the manufacturer concerning your inquiry. According to Transcend, the Transcend RDE2 CFexpress Type-B-Card Reader does not require an extra driver when used on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, macOS, or Linux. operating systems. They recommend reinstalling the driver for your computer's built-in USB port itself, or you may try connecting the TS-RDE2 card reader to another computer with another cable.
