The stud is one part of the tripod adapter's 2-part system, so you can have the base portion on your QR plate and leave a stud in each set of your binoculars to quickly change your kit depending on what you're glassing and where you're going to do it. It has a standard 1/4"-20 mounting screw for your binoculars' adapter socket on the front of its bridge hinge. This the stud only—you need the Pro Binocular Tripod Adapter to use it.
