I'm 5'2". Is there value in buying a longer-legged tripod anyway, to ensure greater stability, even at lower heights? Thanks!
Asked by: Heidi
It’s also useful when working on uneven terrain (slopes, streams, rocky ground etc. etc. etc.), as one or two tripod legs can be extended further to level the camera or achieve a desired shot angle. If you’re 5’2”, this particular RRS tripod at 66.1” max. height might be taller than you need; you can also investigate their models with lower fully extended heights. Remember to add the height of your camera (camera base to viewfinder) plus a ball head (if used) when considering which height tripod to purchase. And to answer your question literally, a longer-legged tripod doesn’t necessarily ensure greater stability when it isn’t fully extended.
