Usually I do a heavy deep-dive and research into what I buy. I thought I did with this. I currently have a Battery Backup Solution. It's a 1U rack-mount by CyberPower. I thought I was buying a 1U rack-mount Battery Backup by Ubiquiti. This is not that. In fact they do not sell ANY battery backup solutions. Let me rephrase. THIS is a battery backup solution without the batteries. This is a proprietary switching box that can deliver power to some/most higher end Ubiquiti rack devices like the Dream Machine SE, The UNAS Pro and rack-mount Switches. I'm sure it'll handle some of the security system rack-mount stuff as well. I use it for 1 switch, UNAS Pro and the Dream Machine. This device is designed to be plugged into a secondary power solution (IE Battery Backup). If you read the specs on the Ubiquiti Store for this device it does not state this. Under the description it is listed as "950W redundant power supply for rack-mounted devices". Now having said that I have looked at the Q&A Page on the B&H website for this. Does it have a battery? was asked and answered 2 times. So my reasoning for 4 stars is that Ubiquiti isn't very clear on what this is or more to the point what people might assume it is. B&H HAS the correct information whereas Ubiquiti (in my humble opinion) does not. You get 1 fairly short SmartPower cable in the box and the rest you will need are 30+ dollars. If you purchase this keep in mind those cables are fairly thick (good) but also require a decent amount of force to plug all the way in (also good). There is a line above the U on the cable. When fully inserted you should not be able to see that line. Because I already had a battery backup this is something I will keep as it does fit nicely with the rest of my system. A net positive to this is that because it is just a Smart Power Switching Device you can use whatever Battery Backup solution you want/require. B&H continues to be an amazing company.

I bought the RPS as part of a two tier redundancy structure for my Ubiquiti UniFi home network /security deployment. Quality build and when called to service does so without even a blip in network ops. Smoothly integrated with gateway / NVR / switches in look and feel. UniFi management software operates collection of consoles seemlessly. I highly recommend the Ubiquiti line and B&H distribution is icing on the cake.

Does this come with the required SmartPower Cable (SKU: USP-Cable)? Do you sell it separately?

From what I understand, only one SmartPower cable is included. There are six ports on the device. Where / how do I purchase additional cables?

Just to be clear, this does not provide back-up power in case of power failure, just device power supply failure?

That is correct. The Ubiquiti Networks UniFi SmartPower USP-RPS Redundant Power System does not provide backup power in the case of a power failure; it's specifically designed to protect against failure of an individual device's internal power supply.
