I needed to take a group photo for 110 scouts and ended up with the camera at the far end of a sloping lawn. Armed with this and my remote pan and tilt head I was able to great photos without risking life and limb on a 10' ladder. There was no camera shake and the extra 18" height was exactly what I needed. It's not an every day item but better than the alternative and remarkably good!

This small expandable center shaft was the perfect fit for the application. I use it in conjunction with the Platypod base plate and a ball head for remote photography at thoroughbred racing events. The combination of the Platypod base, the Benro shaft and a ball head gives me a multitude of options when covering these events.
